Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance was very nervous about his interview but he ended up not feeling like it was that bad. When he got to the embassy, he had to wait in a line outside because of Covid. One line was for US citizens and the other line was for non-US citizens. They called people in one-by-one to come into the waiting room. Once he was inside, they asked what kind of visa he was applying for and he had to go through security, just to make sure he had no weapons. There were a few windows that you have to go up to in order to make sure you have paid your fees and brought your documents. After that, they took the required documents to the consulate conducting the interview (like the tax returns, support documents, passport, birth certificate, etc.) Then, they send you to wait until they are ready for you to come back for your interview. He waited for about 45 minutes before they were ready for him. He went into the room with the interviewer. The interviewer was very nice and asked my fiance to lift hi... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Husband arrived 30 minutes early. He was greeted by the officer that does the initial small interview to gather the required documents. Affidavit of Support and W2 were required among the other necessary documents to provide. They were very nice and helpful, assisted husband in organizing and turning in the documents they needed.

There were three other people in line ahead of him and he ended up being last to be called. The wait was a little less than two hours from walk in to actual interview. The interview only took about five minutes. The final consular officer for the main interview was very nice as well.

Some of the questions asked that he remembers:

What is your full name?
Are you married?
Have you ever been in the military?
Have you lived in any other countries?
Have you gone to the US in the past?
When did you get married? (Asked twice during the interview)
Where were you married?

The experience was good. We got there early as we git emails with two different times and wanted to be sure. We had to leave our phones by the Old Age home (hogar de ancianos) that's on the same side of the road as the embassy.

To get in was relatively smooth. There were only 3 people in front of us. Our documents were taken and put together. Only civil documents. We were offering the financial documents but we were told maybe the next person would ask for it. We were only asked for address and marriage date, which I got incorrect.

The longest part was to wait for the actual interview, there were like 5 people after us but they were all called first and we were left for last. Scary. When we were finally called up again about 90 minutes had passed. We were asked how we met, and marriage date. Nothing else then were told we were approved.

We were worried about the email from the embassy that had said civil documents had to be apostilled but t... read complete review
